DRIVING UP THE ZUURBERG PASS

We are 16km up the Southern crest of the Zuurberg Pass from the Addo turn off. The drive up the Pass is very scenic and there are expansive views of the mountains. The Pass goes through 5 different biomes with an abundance of beautiful flora and fauna. But while you’re enjoying all this, just keep one eye on the road! It is a gravel road all the way up to the hotel so it is a little bumpy and some bends are tight! The first section of the road is relatively flat then the incline starts and the road becomes narrower. You do not need a 4x4 vehicle to drive up to the Hotel (from the Addo side), but take it slow and be on the lookout for oncoming traffic when going around the bends. Try to avoid driving through the Pass when it is dark, there is heavy mist and during/after heavy rainfall. And because the views are so awesome, allow for a bit of extra time (20 minutes) for this part of your journey. See you on top of the mountain!
